The Northern Directorate of the Judiciary Police (PJ) arrested three people on Tuesday, December 16th, two men and a woman, aged between 21 and 24, as part of an operation against drug trafficking. They are suspected “of sending drug packages to various parts of Europe”. The information was revealed this Wednesday (17) by the PJ, stating that it dismantled the network that sent drugs through postal orders.

The arrests resulted from a investigation that had been going on for around three months, having been triggered by the “discovery of an order, with around 500 grams of liamba, deposited in a CTT store in the municipality of Maia and destined for the Netherlands”explains the criminal investigation police, in a statement sent to newsrooms.

This was not an isolated case, since “other illicit shipments would be detected and seized, in this and other stores in Greater Porto”.

The orders, with various weights and formats, “contained marijuana and hashish and were intended for both national customers and customers from other European countries”, details the PJ.

“Several products associated with their illicit activity were found and seized in the suspects’ homes, such as marijuana, hashish and MDMA, precision scales, numerous bags and vacuum packaging machines”, said the security force.

With no known criminal record, the three detainees will now undergo their first judicial interrogation to apply coercive measures.
